The Party of Wales Arfon Standing up for the people of Arfon

Plaid Cymru Gwynedd has secured a clear majority and a firm mandate from Gwynedd's communities to lead the county council over the next five years. The highest ever percentage of Plaid Cymru councillors in Gwynedd has been elected since its formation in 1996, at 64% of all councillors.

Plaid will have 44 councillors in Gwynedd Council wards, an increase from Plaid's figure of 41 following the 2017 Election. Gwynedd will now have 69 councillors in total, following a change in ward boundaries (6 less than in 2017).

Responding to the result, Plaid Cymru Gwynedd leader, Councillor Dyfrig Siencyn, who won his seat in north Dolgellau, said:

'This is a special result for Plaid in Gwynedd - the best since Gwynedd Council was established. It reflects the hard work being done on the ground by experienced Councillors and new candidates who have a passion and ambition for Gwynedd's communities and residents. I would like to sincerely thank all our candidates for putting their names forward, for standing for Plaid and for their total dedication.'
