MS and MP publish annual report to constituents

Issues covered range from the cost-of-living crisis to the local health service

Siân Gwenllian MS and Hywel Williams MP represent the Arfon constituency in the Senedd and Westminster respectively, and at the end of 2022 they will publish an annual report of their work.

The bilingual pamphlet will be distributed in the wake of Plaid Cymru Arfon MP Hywel Williams’ announcement that he will be standing down at the next General Election after 21 years as an MP. He will continue as the area’s MP until the next Westminster election, representing constituents and working on their behalf on local issues.

The annual report is the latest issue of Llais Arfon (Arfon’s Voice), a publication that  gives a brief roundup of the national concerns pursued by the MS and MP, as well as matters relating to the constituency.

Siân Gwenllian represents the Arfon constituency that stretches from Abergwyngregyn to Nebo:

“Keeping in close contact with constituents is a vital part of our work and we are holding regular in-person advice surgeries across the constituency.

“Llanberis, Bethel, y Felinheli, Bangor, Dyffryn Ogwen, Dyffryn Nantlle, Bontnewydd, Rhosgadfan, Rhiwlas, y Groeslon, Caernarfon. These are just some of the places we've held surgeries in the past few weeks.

“During the pandemic I circulated two reports through the post, in 2021 and at the start of 2022 focusing on policy fields relevant to the Senedd, from health to education, as well as my local work.

“But now, signposting constituents to support during one of the worst cost-of-living crises in living memory is something our offices are focused upon.

“We’ve also put together a booklet, available online and upon request, on paper, raising awareness of the safety nets that are available to people in tough times.”

The Llais Arfon report is published in the midst of the cost-of-living crisis. Constituents are advised to consult the MS and MP’s dedicated, online Cost-of-Living crisis booklet for regularly updated, current information about the support that is available.

Hywel Williams MP, who represents the same constituency in the Westminster parliament said:

“Keeping our constituents informed of our work is vitally important. People should expect nothing less from their elected representatives.

“With the cost-of-living crisis taking hold, and people increasingly worried about their energy bills - our constituents deserve to know what we're doing to hold those in power to account and the issues we are campaigning on in both Cardiff and Westminster.

As a local MP, I engage with residents all the time, and this latest report helps me report back on my work locally in Arfon and in Westminster.

“All copies are hand-delivered by our volunteers.
