The Party of Wales Arfon Standing up for the people of Arfon

Brooke Graham, of Maesgeirchen, Bangor, has appeared in this year’s Senedd’s Online Gallery of Champions after being nominated by local Member of the Senedd, Siân Gwenllian.

At the start of the Covid-19 pandemic Brooke Graham, 13, started selling cakes, and ended up raising £175 for the NHS Charity Awyr Las.

She then went on to bake over 100 cakes for Maesgeirchen pensioners as part of the regular food ‘drop off’ scheme in the area.

Cllr Nigel Pickavance presented Brooke with a thank you letter from Siân Gwenllian MS and a gift on behalf of the food drop off team.

A tweet from the Pierhead as part of the Gallery of Champions celebrations read;

“13 year old Brooke has been making and selling cheesecakes and traditional sponge cakes in her community of Maesgeirchen, Bangor.

She raises money to purchase much needed essentials for the NHS.”

Siân Gwenllian MS reacted saying that

“I am delighted to have nominated Brooke!

People like Brooke have been a glimmer of hope in very dark times.

We all have a duty of care to each other, and Brooke has been a shining example of that principle.

I know that Maesgeirchen is a close-knit community that will have deeply appreciated Brooke’s work.

I would like to thank Brooke, and all others in Maesgeirchen, Bangor, and further afield who have stepped up to the mark and supported our communities in difficult times.”
