Plaid Cymru Member of Parliament for Arfon Hywel Williams and Assembly Member Siân Gwenllian have urged the Welsh Labour Government to urgently press ahead and confirm a start date for work on the Bontnewydd/ Caernarfon bypass early in the new year or risk further unacceptable delays.

To promote Small Business Saturday on December 2nd Arfon AM Sian Gwenllian and MP Hywel Williams visited Llechi a Phethau/Slate and Things in Caernarfon to meet proprietors Jon and Gill March who opened their craft and gift shop in the town 8 months ago.

Plaid Cymru Member of Parliament Hywel Williams and AM Siân Gwenllian are inviting applications of interest from women in their Arfon constituency, affected by government changes to the state pension age, to set up a WASPI (Women Against State Pension Increase) campaign group to give local women a voice in opposing the reforms.

Plaid Cymru’s Shadow Cabinet Secretary for the Welsh Language, Sian Gwenllian, has criticised the government’s slowness in introducing Welsh language standards for public sector bodies in Wales.

Plaid Cymru’s shadow Cabinet spokesperson on the Welsh Language, Sian Gwenllian AM, has said that the Welsh Government is guilty of creating confusion with its planning policy regarding the Welsh language following the publication of a policy which is completely inconsistent with legislation.

“The Labour government’s efforts to scrap the Welsh Language Commissioner are short sighted and will weaken the rights of Welsh speakers." Plaid Cymru Shadow Cabinet Secretary for the Welsh Language Sian Gwenllian has said.

Plaid Cymru Member of Parliament for Arfon, Hywel Williams is backing calls to curb the number of ‘To Let’ signs across the City of Bangor, following concerns about the impact the proliferation of such letting boards is having on the character of local streets. 

Schools throughout Wales and beyond recently hosted a 'green day' to show their support for the world's rainforests. Green Day is an annual day of green activity organized by the climate change charity, Size of Wales.

Siân Gwenllian AM said: “It’s really important to keep a step ahead of winter. I want everyone in Arfon to understand what help is available for them, and for their family and friends. Being energy efficient and keeping bills under control is really important, so I’d encourage people to get in touch with their energy supplier to find out what support is on offer.”
