Sian Gwenllian was invited to speak at the Diwali festival of light celebrations held by the Bangor Indian Friends Association, and spoke of the need to take inspiration from the festival, and spread light during dark political times.
“Many communities are under increased pressure because of the current political climate,” said Sian Gwenllian, “and it is important that we come together and work for a better future for all. I felt very privileged to have been asked to speak at the celebrations and meet the families who were present. The food was fantastic and I went away feeling truly inspired by the welcome and by the symbolism of the festival.”
The celebrations included traditional dancing, the lighting of candles, a disco for the children as well as a fantastic three-course buffet of traditional Indian cuisine.
